Master of Music ( M.M. ) ( D.M.A.)

The Jazz/Commercial Music degree program is offered with concentrations in Music Education, Performance, Composition/Arranging, Music History, Choral Conducting and Music Technology. The program is designed to meet the needs of professional music educators, musicians, audio recording engineers and active professionals working in the music industry.
You can achieve this 36 credit degree program by taking courses during the school year or during the summer. A required research project must be completed and performance majors must take a juried music recital.


Doctor of Musical Arts ( D.M.A.)

A doctoral degree at Five Towns College requires outstanding scholarship and research culminating in a dissertation. This 60 credit degree program requires a minimum of three to four years of graduate study. Concentrations in the DMA program include music performance, composition and arranging, music education or music history and literature. Fellowships are available for qualified students.


Childhood Education ( M.S. Ed.)

The Master’s degree in Childhood Education consists of 36 credit hours and 25 hours of field experience focusing on elementary classroom instruction. A research project is required which will increase the expertise and knowledge of the candidate.


Summer Programs:  During the summer there are one week and three week classes in both Childhood Education and Music which are held on campus and also offered on-line.


Admission Standards:

All candidates must have Bachelors’ Degree in their field of study with a minimum G.P.A. of 2.75 at the Master’s level and a 3.0 G.P.A. at the doctoral level. All Childhood Education candidates must show proof of a New York State Provisional/Initial Teaching Certificate. Music students must demonstrate musical skills through an audition.
Students can apply as matriculated or non-matriculated for the purpose of salary advancement.
