To Achieve Greater Equity and Affordability
Five Towns College Reduces Fall 2016 Tuition

Effective for the Fall 2016 semester, tuition for all new students will be reduced across the board from $21,000 per year or $10,500 per semester to
$18,980 per year or $9,490 per semester.  This represents a tuition reduction of 9.6%. For part-time undergraduate students, the tuition charge will
be lowered more modestly from $875 to $863 per credit, a reduction of 1.4%.

Here are some of the salient points:

    • To more equitably distribute available scholarship funds and to fund the tuition reduction for all students, institutional scholarships for new
students would be lowered accordingly. Yet, the total tuition is effectively reduced based on the new rate.

    • For continuing students, tuition is reduced to the same lower level but all scholarships for continuing students would also be reduced by up
to $1,010 per semester – the amount of the tuition reduction. Those continuing students who prefer to stay with the old scholarship policy
can do so at the current tuition level of $21,000. This will provide a smooth transition and implementation of the new tuition policy.

  • Five Towns College has generous scholarship programs. The Board of Trustees is seeking to keep Five Towns College affordable for all students.
By rebalancing tuition and institutional scholarships, it hopes to achieve that goal. The College has a historic commitment to keeping a
private education within the reach of middle class families. The new tuition seeks to further that commitment.

A survey of tuition costs in New York State reveals that this objective is now achieved. The new reduced tuition makes Five Towns College
the most affordable private college on Long Island.
Specific questions as how the new scholarship funding policy will impact specific
students should be addressed to the Five Towns College Financial Aid Office.
