There is nothing like a Commencement ceremony to evoke all kinds of emotion, some people cry while others shout for joy. Today’s graduation was no exception! The culmination of four years of hard work brought huge smiles to the faces of the 150 graduates and their families.

At the 41st Commencement Exercises, FTC was pleased to announce the award of 136 undergraduate degrees and 14 graduate degrees.

The Class of 2015 is a remarkable group that has flourished. 4 students have completed the rigorous requirements for a doctoral degree; 10 students have earned Masters degrees, 120 students are to be awarded Bachelor degrees, and 16 students Associate degrees. Of these graduates today, 25 are members of the Phi Sigma Honor Society.

At a small school like FTC, everyone knows the students and there is a real sense of community. The Honorary Doctorate degrees were conferred on four very deserving and accomplished professionals: Michael DeLuise, Michael Francesa, Liberty Devitto and Ellen Michelmore. Their words of inspiration shared stories of passion, inspiration, and persistence to follow one’s heart and work hard to realize dreams.

Everyone strives for success but the rejection that often times must be overcome makes the journey that much more certain. Their messages to “do what you love,” “drive your future,” “you can never have too much rejection,” “be respectful,” and “have a positive mental attitude” are words of wisdom that will echo in FTC graduates’ ears for a long time.

Ms. Syndee Winters received the Distinguished Alumnus Award and demonstrated to the Class of 2015 what amazing futures lay ahead waiting for them. She was amazing and the FTC campus is psyched to see her one-woman play about Lena Horne in the Fall 2015.

With all the pomp and circumstance, President Barr and Provost Miller led Five Towns College into its 4th decade of educating creative, energetic students who love what they do. Congratulations Class of 2015!
