Congratulations to Professor Jeff Daily!

He recently received the Jean Dalrymple Award at Sardi’s Restaurant in New York City for his production of Plautus’, Captives.  Plautus was an Italian born, famous Roman comic dramatist known for his great use of satire and burlesque. Philosopher Gotthold Lessing had described Captives as the “perfect play” back in the 18th century. Professor Daily’s production received high acclaim.

Jean Van Kirk Dalyrmple was integrally involved in the founding of New York’s City Center. She was a well-known, noted theatrical producer, publicist, manager and playwright.  The awards were initiated in 1985 to honor innovation in Off-Off Broadway Theatre and the awards program has continued, to date, following her death in 1998.

Professor Daily directed and produced Captives and presented it at the John Cullum Theatre in August and September 2016.  It was the first production of the play in New York since 1890.  This is quite an accomplishment in the theatrical world and FTC is proud to recognize Professor Daily for his contributions!
