Please Note: There is a mandatory Covid vaccination policy in place. Since this is an on-ground educational experience and NYS has opened vaccinations to all those over 16 years old,  all attendees must provide proof of vaccination to be on campus and participate in this program.

Overview

High School students entering grades 11 or 12 in the Fall Semester 2021 are cordially invited to enroll in one or more of our summer college courses. A new initiative is in place that provides summer scholarships to accepted individuals and the overall tuition/cost is very affordable. Students will learn valuable skills and insights in such fields as Music, Media, and the Performing Arts. These classes will give you an insider’s look into what college life is like!

These are college level courses that can be used to apply to the College. At the conclusion of this six-week schedule, family and friends are invited to view student projects and performances. The culminating event, The Sights and Sounds of Summer 2021, is scheduled for Thursday, August 12, weather permitting.

Qualified High School juniors or seniors who apply by June 1, 2021, if accepted, after an audition/interview, will be eligible to have the cost of the program covered by a summer scholarship. All courses take place in air-conditioned classrooms and studios. Actively participate in these interactive college level classes! Meet other like-minded students and pursue your creative passions at Five Towns College!!

Dates: July 6 – August 12 (6-week session)

All classes meet Monday through Thursday.

Tuition/Cost

Tuition for the Summer Scholars Program is just $684 per 3-credit course or $228/one credit course. Summer scholarships are available to high school students who apply by June 1, 2021 and are accepted into the program. Scholarships will be offered on the basis of academic merit, talent, and/or financial need. Admission to the Summer Scholars Program is by interview/audition only. The following documents are required to apply for the Summer Scholars Program:

•Application
•Letter of Recommendation from a H.S. Teacher or Guidance Counselor
•Proof of Coronavirus Vaccination (should be submitted anytime prior to the start of classes)

Upon receipt of the application, you will be contacted to schedule your interview/audition. You can submit both the Letter of Recommendation and Proof of Vaccination prior to the start of classes but they are mandatory to participate. Proof of Covid Vaccination may be sent directly to healthrecords@ftc.edu or uploaded below.

Payment

Students who apply by June 1st will be advised about their acceptance and their eligibility for the summer scholarships. For those who apply after June 1 and/or who may not be eligible for the summer scholarship, a payment of $684 per 3-credit course or $228/one-credit course should be made by check payable to: Five Towns College and mailed to: Admissions Office, Five Towns College, 305 N. 2021 Summer High School Scholars Application

    Other General Information:

    ELIGIBILITY: Students entering 11th and 12th grade for the Fall 2021 semester.
    APPLICATION PROCESS: Complete the online application. If you are unable to submit it online, print the application and send it to Five Towns College, High School Summer Scholars Program, 305 North Service Road, Dix Hills, New York, 11746.
    COLLEGE CREDIT COURSES: Select up to 6 credits of college courses.
    TUITION AND FEES: There is a tuition charge of $228/credit/course. Further, for those who apply prior to June 1, are accepted and are eligible for the summer scholarship, the tuition charge will be adjusted accordingly.
    DEADLINES: The application should be submitted no later than Tuesday, June 1. However, students may apply after June 1, provided classes are still open.
    INTERVIEWS AND/OR AUDITIONS: A 10 to 15 minute Zoom interview or audition will be scheduled once you submit the application.
    LETTER OF RECOMMENDATION: Submit a letter of recommendation from your guidance counselor or teacher with your application.
    MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS: The student is responsible for providing their own musical instrument.
    TEXTBOOKS: The student is responsible for acquiring the textbook for each course prior to the start of class once accepted.
    LIBRARY SERVICES: Library hours are Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m-4:30 p.m.
    STUDENT ID: All students will receive a photo ID which is to be carried at all times.
    COVID-19 VACCINATION: The student will have to show proof of a vaccination before summer classes start. Once accepted, proof must be submitted to healthrecords@ftc.edu.
    TRANSPORTATION: The student is responsible for providing their own transportation to the College. The Suffolk County Bus S-23 comes on campus, leaving from the LIRR Babylon and Wyandanch Train Station.
    LUNCH: Food is available on campus by placing money on the student ID card.
