The Five Towns College Sound men’s soccer team made history this month, claiming the North American Conference for Intercollegiate Athletics (NACIA) Men’s Soccer Championship with a 1–0 victory over #2 seed Bryant & Stratton College – Rochester. The win marks a monumental achievement for the #4-seeded Sound, who captured their first-ever NACIA Championship title.
The match was a defensive battle from start to finish, with both sides displaying championship-level intensity. Five Towns broke through in the 63rd minute, when Edward Washington capitalized on a pinpoint assist from Danny Valverde, slotting the ball past the goalkeeper for what proved to be the game-winning goal.
Behind a resilient back line and composed goalkeeping, the Sound held firm to secure the clean sheet and clinch the conference crown.
“This is a special moment for our program and for every player who’s worked so hard to get here,” said Head Coach Jason Fiscina. “Edward and Danny delivered a moment of brilliance, and our defense showed the heart of champions. I couldn’t be prouder of this group.”
The victory completes an inspiring postseason run for Five Towns College, who overcame higher-seeded opponents throughout the NAC playoffs. With the win, the Sound earn the conference’s automatic bid to the USCAA National Championships, where they will represent the NACIA on the national stage.
