Master and Doctoral Degrees
Five Towns College is an accredited institutional member of the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM) and offers several graduate programs. In addition to programs leading to Master’s degree in Music Education (M.M.), and Jazz/Commercial Music (M.M.), Five Towns College is proud to offer the Doctor of Musical Arts (D.M.A.) degree. Both levels of graduate degrees offer students, who may already be professionals in the field, the opportunity to show their expertise with a credential that speaks volumes to their knowledge and experience.
The Master’s degree in Jazz/Commercial Music has four concentrations. Opportunities to study Performance, Composition/Arranging, Music History or Music Technology give these students deep content knowledge that can be used as they further their professional experiences and livelihood. The Master’s degree in Music Education provides individuals with a credential that is recognized in the world of teaching and allows them to pursue a myriad of teaching opportunities as well. A pinnacle degree that is recognized as the terminal degree in the field is the Doctor of Musical Arts (D.M.A.). Five Towns College is pleased to offer four discrete programs at this level: (1) D.M.A. in Composition/Arranging; (2) D.M.A. in Music Education; (3) D. M.A. in Music History and Literature; and (4) D.M.A. in Music Performance.
