Residence Life on Campus

Five Towns College in Long Island, NY, strives to create an atmosphere of community living among students. Living in the residence halls exposes students to new experiences to complement the FTC academic experience. Diverse religious, ethnic, and social backgrounds make up the FTC student body. Living on campus exposes students to new people and perspectives that shape their individual experiences at Five Towns College.

College Student Housing

Living together with peers enriches the college educational and student development experience. Access to double occupancy rooms is available to all first-year residence hall students. The Residence Life Office offers single rooms to students with special needs, based on proper documentation and availability. Students with, at least, a sophomore class standing may apply for a single room, which are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

College Student Dorms

Each resident gets a bed, dresser, wardrobe or closet, desk and chair when living in a student housing room. Students with special needs can request rooms with additional amenities to meet individual needs. Access to social lounges, laundry room facilities, local and long-distance phone service (at an additional charge), voicemail, cable television and internet is available to student residents. Each residence hall contains communal areas and gathering spaces. A variety of furniture and seating furnishes communal spaces.

Campus Safety & Student Housing

Every day, starting at 5 p.m., security guards sit stationed at the front desk to monitor the resident hall buildings. In addition, Five Towns College employs a full-time public safety staff for the safety and security of all its students.

FTC does not provide storage for student belongings over the summer or for students studying abroad during the academic year. Contact the Office of Residence Life for information about local private storage spaces and moving companies.

The Office of Residence Life (ORL) is located within the Student Center on the lower level of Symphony Hall.

Campus Dining & Residence Life

Find FTC’s primary dining hall, the Upbeat Cafe, in the main academic building. The Upbeat Café serves breakfast, lunch and dinner on weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. and on weekends from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

For late night snacks, visit the Downbeat Café. The Downbeat Café, located in the Student Center, serves food every evening from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Residence Life: Commute from Long Island to Manhattan

Located in the heart of Long Island, NY, Five Towns College student housing is approximately 45 minutes from Manhattan. Take full advantage of the cultural wealth of New York City as a student and resident at Five Towns College.

At the main entrance to the academic building, use the FTC bus service to go to the local LIRR stations. FTC bus service runs Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. For FTC resident students, shuttle bus service to the LIRR runs on the weekends, too.
