Five Towns College Nets Four National IBS Award Nominations

The Five Towns College Mass Communication Department has earned four national nominations in the 2025-2026 Intercollegiate Broadcasting System (IBS) Awards, underscoring the quality of the college’s student-led media programs. 

The nominations span key categories:

  • Best Morning Show for “Good Morning FTC” (Daniel Garcia, Grace Bonamico, Max Rappaport, Isabella Escobar, Frank LaPinta, Tryston Bellon, Adrian Kartalozi, James Suckle, Joey Broggy) 

  • Best On-Air Personality for Daniel Garcia 

  • Best Specialty Music Show for “Hit Forecast” (hosted by Daniel Garcia) 

  • Best Variety Show for “Advanced Lab 6 – FTC Sound Check: Retro Game Show” (Stephen Cooney, Fernando Gomez, Adrian Kartalozi, Grace Bonamico) 

Intercollegiate Broadcasting System

Chair of Mass Communication, Holli Haerr, celebrated the achievement:

I’m really excited to see our Mass Comm students’ hard work and creativity recognized on a national level … It shows that the education and opportunities we provide are preparing our students to be competitive in the Mass Comm industry.

Senior Daniel Garcia, a returning nominee (having won Best On-Air Personality in 2024-25), praised the experience:

I am so honored to be named a finalist for the second year in a row … I’ve put in a lot of work to improve myself on air …

 Meanwhile, first-year student Joseph Broggy, part of the “Good Morning FTC” team, told reporters:

It’s such a surreal experience to be nominated … in my first semester on the show.

The nominations reflect both returning successes and first-time finalists, indicating that FTC’s student-run radio and television programs are continuing to grow their national presence.  Winners will be announced at the annual IBS Conference at the Sheraton in New York City on February 21, 2026.
