Five Towns College audio majors, interested students, and faculty are headed to the AES Convention at the Jacob Javitz Center in New York City on October 20th.  AES stands for Audio Engineering Society, and the convention is popular for audio companies to display their latest innovative technologies.  Transportation and lunch will be provided for students.

Students had the opportunity to sign up to attend the AES convention on October 4th and 6th. At the sign-up table, Samantha Winter, an FTC Audio major, explained how the convention would be beneficial for Five Towns students. “It’s just a great opportunity for students to network and see all the exhibits and really get involved in the Audio Engineering Society.”

Winter also encouraged other students besides audio majors to attend the convention by emphasizing, “Audio students should come, but other students should come as well if they’re interested in audio in any way if it’s a hobby. It will help with film or mass communication. Audio is important in most forms of entertainment, so anyone could benefit from coming to the Audio Engineering Convention.”

Melik Luke, a freshman audio major, is looking forward to networking at the event. “I’m excited to go. It’s a great opportunity for me and other students who are into the audio industry. I can’t wait to see all the technology and important companies showing up.”
