The Five Towns College School of Performing Arts

The Five Towns College School of Performing Arts brings together Music Performance, Music Teacher Education, and Theatre Arts to prepare students for professional careers on stage, in the classroom, and across the performing arts industry. These programs combine artistic development, technical training, and real-world performance experience in an immersive, hands-on environment.

Students in the School of Performing Arts develop their craft through intensive study, collaboration, and performance — building the skills, discipline, and confidence required for professional artistic careers.

School of Performing Arts Academic Programs

The Music Performance program is designed for students pursuing careers as performers, composers, and professional musicians. Through private instruction, ensemble participation, and performance-focused coursework, students refine their artistic voice while developing technical mastery.

Degrees Offered

  • Bachelor of Music (Mus.B.) in Music Performance

  • Associate in Applied Science (A.A.S.) in Music Performance

Areas of Study Include:

  • Applied private instruction

  • Ensemble performance and collaboration

  • Music theory, ear training, and musicianship

Graduates pursue careers as performers, recording artists, composers, and freelance musicians across a variety of professional settings.

The Music Teacher Education program prepares students for careers as certified music educators and teaching artists. Students gain a strong foundation in musicianship and develop the pedagogical skills required to lead music instruction in schools.

Concentrations

Students may choose between:

  • Instrumentalist

  • Vocal/Piano/Guitar

    These concentrations support preparation for K-12 music teacher certification and focus on both performance and instructional mastery.

  • Supervised student teaching and field experience

Graduates earn New York State initial teacher certification (pending required assessments) and are ready to teach music in public and private schools.
