The 72 Hour Film Festival

This was no ordinary, rainy Friday night. While everyone was busy making after work plans, an exciting and very interesting event was taking place right on the Main Stage @ the FTC Performing Arts Center—The 72 Hour Film Festival!

Starting with cheesecake, delicious cookies, and hot popcorn in the front lobby, those who ventured into the Theatre were in for a great show. Film/Video Chair Erika Houle and Professor Justin Andrews introduced the Festival and the lights went down. Also, Film/Video faculty Charles DesJardin and Michael Mercadante were instrumental in organizing the event, so much appreciation to the whole team.

On the evening’s agenda were the following student films:

  • My Friend, The Martian- -BoxHouse Entertainment
  • Step- – Cinema Suicide
  • Hallowed Crimes- -Royal Kiwi Films
  • Laissez Moi Dormir (Let Me Sleep)- – The Sinister Seven
  • Antique-Fu- -Terrestrial Pictures

Attendees were asked to pick three favorites.

The Audience Choice winner was Antique-Fu by Terrestrial Pictures.

The two runner ups were:

  • Hallowed Crimes by Royal Kiwi Films and
  • My Friend, The Martian by BoxHouse Entertainment

Following up after these great short and creative films, was an interesting session pulled together by Theatre Professor Milton Justice & the Film/Video Division called: One Minute Film Showcase-Collaboration between Freshman Filmmakers & Actors.

All in all, this not so ordinary, rainy Friday night was just that  . . . Spectacular!!

Congratulations to all who participated, attended, acted, filmed/videoed and much thanks to both the Film/Video and Theatre Divisions for a captivating and educational evening!!
