Some FTC Professors have taught here for years. Many are often seen performing on the center stage of the FTC PAC. Others are busy educating and teaching the next generation of business, film/video, jazz/commercial music, education or theatre arts professionals.

One FTC Professor who has received wide and high acclaim by students and faculty alike is Professor Peter Rogine. He is an esteemed and accomplished guitar educator and musician. The Recording Academy and The Grammy Foundation have recently announced that he is included as a quarterfinalist for the 2017 Music Educator Award.

The Press Release stated that, “A total of 290 music teachers from 264 cities across 41 states have been announced as quarterfinalists for the Music Educator Award TM presented by The Recording Academy® and the GRAMMY Foundation®. In total, more than 3,300 initial nominations were submitted from all 50 states.”

Further, The Recording Academy and The Grammy Foundation explained that, “The Music Educator Award was established to recognize current educators (kindergarten through college, public and private schools) who have made a significant and lasting contribution to the field of music education and who demonstrate a commitment to the broader cause of maintaining music education in the schools. A joint partnership and presentation of The Recording Academy and the GRAMMY Foundation, the recipient will be honored during GRAMMY® Week 2017.”

Following in the line of nominated Grammy Award recipients through the years, Professor Rogine is proud to state that he was a student of FTC Adjunct Professor Joe Monk, who was the first teacher to receive this prestigious award! Wow-imagine that-pure musical genius and educational wizardry going on at this small College!

Now, holding strong as one of the quarterfinalists amongst many qualified teachers who were nominated for this Grammy Award, Professor Rogine is as modest as ever, yet, the artistry and mastery of this accomplished guitarist and awesome educator cannot stay sequestered for long. He is entirely deserving of national acclaim. In fact, his tireless efforts to promote and instill in FTC students not only a love of music, skillfulness and expertise in their musicianship, and the importance of a college education have been tested and affirmed for over 30 years.
