Undergraduate Music Auditions

Performance/Music Education Audition Requirements

Undergraduate Music auditions are required for acceptance into the Music Division. Whether applying for the Performance or the Music Teacher Education program, on-campus auditions are preferred. In some instances, virtual auditions may be conducted but this requires the permission of the Chair of Music. Pre-recorded music/vocal auditions from applicants may be accepted from international students or others but the permission of the Chair of Music/Coordinator of Music Education is required.

Professional performing artists, music educators, and professionals in the music industry benefit from matriculating in the Music program. Moreover, accepted students are required to take private instruction in voice or on a major instrument with an artist faculty member. Accordingly, the audition assists in course placement and an applicant’s technical proficiency. Furthermore, it helps to determine a student’s potential for professional development.
