Winter Session / J-Term

J-Term @ Five Towns College

Winter/J-Term: January 11-February 19, 2021

Typically referred to as Winter Session, this year  J-Term or January Term is set to launch in full bloom, just prior to the Spring 2021 start. J-Term is a great opportunity for FTC students to get ahead or catch up! In either event, considering the shortage of entertainment choices during the pandemic, taking some college courses and hoarding some credits to ensure that you graduate on time (or early!) is a wonderful way to spend the upcoming cold winter months.

This year, FTC is offering courses with unique financial incentive only for current undergraduate students who are up to date on their tuition payments, and who have registered for the Spring 2021. Please review the offering below to see if you will opt in. This is a great opportunity! We hope that you decide to stay engaged with fellow students and faculty and keep the conversation going by registering for J-Term.

Here’s the scoop:

Five Towns College seeks to encourage students to participate in the J-Term.  Particularly this year, when there is an extended Winter Intersession, the J-Term will help to keep students engaged in their studies, help them to graduate on-time, improve overall student persistence and retention rates, and engender the academic discourse.  To this end, the College will provide an institutional grant to cover the full cost of tuition and fees to any student who registers for up to three (3) credits in J-Term.

To be eligible, a student must:

  • Be current on their tuition account; and
  • Be registered as a full-time undergraduate student for the Spring 2021 semester.

Students who chose to register for more than 3 credits, so that they are taking between four (4) and six (6) credits during J-Term, will receive a supplemental grant in the amount of $912 per credit, so that the actual cost to students is just $228 per credit or $684 per 3-credit course.  Fees are not covered by this supplemental grant.  To receive this supplemental grant, students must:

  • Be registered for 4 – 6 credits during J-Term;
  • Be current on their tuition account balances (J-Term balances must be paid in full prior to the start of classes on January 11, 2021); and
  • Be registered as a full-time undergraduate student for the Spring 2021.

J-Term Institutional Grants are only available to full-time undergraduates who are matriculated for a degree program at Five Towns College.

Questions regarding J-Term Tuition, Fees, and Institutional Grants may be directed to the College Bursar or Financial Aid Offices.
