Five Towns College is proud to announce that its institutional accreditation has been reaffirmed by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education.  The Middle States Commission is the regional accrediting agency recognized by the United States Department of Education, which assures quality and improvement of higher education for most degree-granting colleges and universities in this part of the country. Accreditation by Middle States is considered by many higher education professionals to be the gold standard of accreditation.

In making the announcement Five Towns College Interim President Dr. Susan Barr said, “We are beaming with institutional pride! Middle States’ accreditation is an expression of confidence in the College’s mission and goals, its performance, and its resources.  Accreditation attests to the judgment of the Commission on Higher Education that Five Towns College meets the standards of accreditation as set forth in their publication Characteristics of Excellence.”

President Barr added, “The Board of Trustees join with me in congratulating the entire College community on receiving this important recognition of excellence.  As we welcome the new class of transfer students for the January 2015 semester, the College will continue to build on this success as it continues its mission for the next generation of creative Long Islanders.”
