On November 6th, FTC students and alumni updated their resumes and dressed for future success at this semester’s annual Employer Mixer. The mixer took place in the Downbeat Café. Some of the companies in attendance included Mason Technologies, Entertainment One, Stage 39, School of Rock, Cox Media, JVC Media, The Paramount, FC Barcelona, Huntington Arts Council, YMCA, CM Performing Arts Center, Bloomingdales, and the NY Regional Census.

FTC Reporter Starr Fuentes highlights the hiring event.

FTC Reporter Briyahna Rice picked up valuable advice about what students should expect from a career event:

“Students can get connections through networking and be able to use them throughout their college experience. Even though Five Towns College does a great job with getting students all that hands on experience, I think this is a good event to network and see what else you like.” – Tiffany Bredy , FTC Alumna and current freelance broadcaster

“I hope that people who come to our table learn more about JVC Radio and the internship program that we have to offer.” – Stephanie Aliaga, JVC Broadcasting

“Don’t be discouraged if you don’t get the internship or job you were looking for. Most businesses are all about networking and even if you don’t get the job, you just made a professional connection with someone in a field you are interested in. Hang on to their contact info. Follow up with them after the holidays and see if any new positions opened up. Sometimes it’s just not the right time and the right time can come a little further up the road.” – Ryan Schimmenti, FTC Associate Director of Career Services
