FTC Loves Harry Connick, Jr.-Take Two!

On Oct. 26, 2017, Five Towns College students attended the show, HARRY starring Harry Connick Jr. at CBS Studios in New York City. It was a fantastic learning opportunity to see how a taped show is produced. This is the second time that Five Towns College was invited to attend- a little by luck and a little due to the fact that alumni, Amanda Rocco, is a producer on the set and connected with Mass Communication Chair, Tom Calandrillo. The FTC Career Services Center organized the trip and supervised a bus of almost 50 students. This was an example of experiential education at the core.

Aside from getting to hear Harry’s amazing band, some staff members were even selected to ask a “Question for Harry”! Wrapping up the visit, staff from the show spoke with FTC students about the NBC page program- an internship program that offers an entry level position that often acts as a stepping stone towards a higher tier position. Also, they shared perspectives on the array of career paths in television.

It was another great day for FTC students and staff who made the trip. Maybe sometime soon, Harry Connick, Jr. would like to travel out to Dix Hills? Now, that would be love, too! For more information about the show, go to https://harrytv.com.
