Being Grateful & Creating More @ FTC

being grateful

Thanksgiving is just one of those holidays that makes us all feel so good. Whether on the giving or receiving side, we all know that helping others is always appreciated by those in need. And, those who lend helping hands always feel so good, too! A win-win for all.

Last week, a group of FTC students took time to give back to the local community by helping sort and organize donations at Long Island Cares Food Bank. Many thanks to all who participated!

Now that everyone is back on campus, there are several exciting events to look forward to coming up in December, especially sounding in music!!

First, is the much anticipated Student Talent And Great Entertainment event a/k/a S.T.A.G.E. (STAGE) finale that is scheduled for the top of December. STAGE is a Five Towns College tradition and students really look forward to this event in the months and weeks leading up to the finale.

Started several years ago, STAGE is a competition held annually at FTC that gives creative and performing arts students the chance to showcase their talents i.e. singing, dancing, comedy, musicianship, etc. After four rounds of competition, the final competitors take the stage for one last round on the Main Stage in the Five Towns College Performing Arts Center. This year Thursday December 6th at 7 p.m. is the big showdown. It is an event not to miss and everyone is urged to attend and show their support!

Other December events @ FTC to look forward to include several performances by the Music Division, including:

  • “Evening of Jazz” on December 7 @ 7:30 p.m.
  • “Holiday Concert with the FTC Concert Pops Orchestra” on December 9 @ 2 p.m.
  • “Winter Concert with the FTC Choir, Chamber Orchestra & Wind Ensemble” on December 11 @ 7:30 p.m.

So, welcome back from the warm and relaxing holiday weekend and here’s to an energizing and musical December! For more information about tickets, go to www.ftc.edu/ftcpac.
