If you are pursuing a career in Music Education – Five Towns College should be your first (and last) stop!

Our carefully crafted coursework includes a mix of classes in liberal arts, science, music history, music theory, ear training, keyboard labs, private instruction, performance ensembles, conducting (vocal and instrumental) and education (both elementary and secondary).

This program fulfills the New York State Education Department’s requirements for initial certification in Music Education (pending the passing of NYS written and practical assessments).

Many of the education courses require fieldwork observation hours in local public schools. The program culminates with a student teaching experience where you will work closely with a cooperating teacher (both at the elementary and secondary levels) while under the supervision of the Music Education Director.
